Brian Stevens is "CALLING ALL HAMPTON MUNICIPAL BAND ALUMNI!"
The renovation of the Hampton band shell has been completed, and the concerts this summer will be back in the park with a grand opening/rededication ceremony prior to the 8:00 PM concert on Tuesday, June 5.
As part of the festivities we are inviting all municipal band alumni to join us that evening and play along with the current band on the opening march of the concert. Whether you still play regularly, or would have to look really hard just to find your instrument, we would love to have you with us that evening.
Here’s the way it will work. There will be a brief ribbon cutting ceremony after which alumni will be invited to come up on stage, take your place beside current band members, and we’ll all join in on Karl King’s “Iowa Band Law”. There will be no rehearsal for visiting alumni. All you have to do is show up that night with your horn! If you no longer have a horn, get a hold of me, and I’ll do my best to locate one. There are also plans in the works for a reception afterward, sponsored by the Franklin County Arts Council.
It’s a great excuse to come back to town, check out the renovated shell, and see what’s going on in Hampton these days. We’d love to see you, so please give it serious consideration. To help me get the music organized please drop me an email, send a Facebook reply to this posting, or give me a call to let me know you’re interested. Also, help spread the word. SHARE this message with everyone you can who might be on friends of friends of our previous bands.
